About Me
Design, for me, is an act of care—a way to shape space into something that holds memory, comfort, and identity.
I’m Tatyana Shelest, an interior designer and MFA candidate at the New York School of Interior Design. My practice is grounded in the belief that interiors should do more than look beautiful—they should feel meaningful, deeply personal, and quietly transformative. I design with a clear sense of restraint and emotional depth, blending classical proportion with modern sensitivity.
Every project begins with one question: What will this feel like to live in? That question sits at the center of my process. It informs every layout, every palette, every material I choose. My work is rooted in spatial clarity, soft structure, and a quiet sense of luxury. I gravitate toward layered textures, warm light, and elements that evolve with time—spaces that whisper, not shout.
I believe good design comes from listening. To the client, to the space, to the feeling that unfolds when it all comes together. Whether I’m mapping out architectural flow or refining the final details, my goal is to create interiors that feel lived-in, loved, and entirely one-of-one. This work is, for me, an ongoing conversation—between place, memory, and identity. Between stillness and presence. Between past and future.
Elegance doesn’t have to be loud. It just has to stay.
